For quite some time, I have admired vintage pin up girl art, tattoos (I have two that I got in my 20's), and pin up girl style on women with tattoos. Pin up girl
style isn't for me, but I've definitely contemplated getting a pin up girl tattoo. Although I have searched extensively, I have yet to find just the right one that perfectly depicts the multi-faceted woman that I am. Yes, I am a housewife, a cook, a gardener, and an all around DIY gal. But first and foremost, I am a woman. And being a woman of a certain age, I occasionally ask myself, "Am I too old for more tattoos?" I don't want to appear silly or as if I'm trying to hard. But if it's simply a form of self-expression, it shouldn't really matter what
others think about it, right?
Oh the dilemma. . .thus, my search continues. In the meantime, here are some images that I am particularly fond of. Enjoy!

Or maybe I should just get a pin up girl apron instead. : )
Please come back and visit soon.

Ooh, I love the tattoo pics! I don't think you're ever too old for getting something that you love, as long as it's something you really want. If you don't want the commitment, Bombshell Stamps has some cute pinup stamps and a temporary tattoo ink pad.;) I so want that garter tattoo now. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think they're gorgeous! I don't think you're ever too old for tattoos. That said, I still don't have any, though I often think about getting one.
ReplyDeleteI'm not one for tattoos but the art work is fantastic. If I ever did get one I would go for something like the lace or garter belt one. And you are not to old if you really like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a heavily tattooed woman with two kids. Honestly, I don't even think about them anymore. If you're confident in who you are then you will never feel "too old" or whatever. Do what floats your boat. There are going to be a lot of heavily tattooed 90 year old walking around in 50 years, join us:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, ladies! I enjoyed reading all of your feedback.
ReplyDeleteYou're not too old to get tattooed; the oldest lady I tattooed was 83! And you already are a tattooed woman, seeing as you have 2 already! I hope you consider getting more if you are so inclined. My friend Diego does amazing Gil Elvegren pin up girls if you're near Por Vida Tattoos in Fullerton.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am already a tattooed woman; however, I received them both when I was in my mid-20's and they are in hidden locations (one on my butt and one on my left shoulder). They are a letter "J" and "Jason." Both expressions of love for my then boyfriend (now husband of 18 years). I haven't had any more in the past 20 years. I have though about getting a bird holding a banner with my kids' names on it as well as one of my son making the heart shape with his two hands together but then I think, "Why?" I know I love my kids, do I really need to print it forever on my body for the world to see? So many things to consider. I guess I'll know when/if the time is right.
DeleteThank you for the recommendation on Diego. I'm in Central Cali so it wouldn't be too far too drive for a really fabulous tattoo!
I say go for it! I think tattoos on woman are sexy (no matter what the age.) I got my first and second tattoo when I was 18 (in college at UCSC) and then my third in San Diego. I never regret getting them. I think the pin-up girl tattoo would look good on an outer thigh. :) Keep me posted if you get one.
ReplyDeleteGo for it Robyn. I am 42, got my first tattoo on my foot 3ys ago in memory of a horse that passed away. Today I am getting a sexy fairy vixen tattoo on my back, just under my neck. I'm a mother and a welfare worker, and I don't care that it is going to show. As you said, it is a form of self expression for the WOMAN in me.....not for the things I do, but for who I am.
ReplyDeletebest of wishes

I have 2 (crappy) ones I got when I was 18/19. I am now 37 and just got a very large, beautiful tattoo on my left shoulder, extending to my arm and am going to get more. I'm 37 - I KNOW what I want at this age. I didn't know when I was 18. I have 3 kids (17, 16 and 12) and I do this for myself and to let them know you are never too old to do what you'd like to do...but I think everyone needs to express themselves however they feel is right; ink or not.
ReplyDeleteI have a pin-up tattoo in the works right now!! Just got the outline done!! I also just did a pin-up photo shoot!! It was fun check out this link to see the pictures of me and my pin up tattoo!

What is the name of the woman on the 5th photo from the top? She is gorgeous and I assume an actress from the 50's?
ReplyDeleteHey Robyn I actually went out and had the fifth pin up tattooed on my left arm today. I would like to show you. Face book is "Jimmy Cool" pictures and there
